The TEC (Total Engine Control) is the most advanced engine management system
available. It combines state-of-the-art fuel injection with the industry leading Direct
Ignition System, and replaces the existing carburetor or fuel injection system and
ignition distributor and coil. The use of advanced, digital computer based technology
offers the absolute best power delivery, smoothest driveability and lowest fuel
consumption possible. The TEC-I series of engine control units consist of a Direct Fire
Unit which holds the coils, and a TEC controller which holds the injector drive circuits
and control logic. This configuration is ideal for extremely powerful engines with
multiple injectors at each cylinder. These hand built and custom configured systems are
purpose built special order items.

The Advantages of the TEC Direct Ignition System
The Electromotive Direct Ignition simply out-performs other production and aftermarket
systems. Developed from our HPV ignition only system, every TEC uses multiple ignition
coils and advanced, automatically adjusting dwell circuits to assure the coils are fully
charged to 8 ½ break amps every time. Each coil fires two cylinders; one on the
compression stroke and one on the exhaust. The exhaust cylinder plug has a low plug gap
ionization potential and, as a result, does not consume appreciable ignition power. The
powerful spark of this patented* system delivers this full spark energy directly to the
plugs without misfires. Unlike multiple spark C-D systems that may only put one very short
spark at high speeds, the TEC puts a full 120 mJ of spark energy to the plugs. The
individual coils allow maximum charge; long burn times and high energy levels assure
effective burning for improved driveability, increased performance and decreased fuel
consumption and emissions. And the lack of moving parts eliminate wear concerns. Adaptive
knock control is also programmable.
